Preparing for Childbirth ensures you are able to decide for yourself what decisions will support your vision of a natural/normal or a gentle birth. Whichever way you wish to go , the best thing to do is to 'Prepare for Childbirth'
Before one begins reading one must understand that Reading for Preparation is different from reading or learning for entertaintment.
What you do with that information is crucial. Going forward and asking your childbirth educator , doula or birth support team for clarification and further clarifying your doubts will strenghten your faith in the knowledge and this will reflect in your decisions during labor and prenatal appointments. Without which it does not really fulfill the purpose of 'Preparation'
It is crucial then to ask yourself , why do you want to read ? Is it just out of curiosity ? This is great! Is it to align your path to be able to have the birth you imagine? Which is fantastic too! Either ways knowing your goal will make the reading effective.

What to Expect when you are Expecting is not the best book so you can read it but it will not do the job! This is entertaintment reading!
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" by Ina May Gaskin: This book is a comprehensive guide to natural childbirth, offering inspiring birth stories and practical advice from midwife Ina May Gaskin.
This book is my favorite. Ina May is the most famous American Midwife. This book does a great job at sharing different stories of labor so a mother can visualize for herself. It tremendously reduces the fear of labor and gives pratical tips as well.
2. Natural Hospital Birth: The Best of Both Worlds: This book shows how to apply the guidelines and tactics of natural birth in a hospital setting, where 99% of births take place.
Many mothers-to-be find themselves torn between the desire for a natural childbirth with minimal medical intervention and the peace of mind offered byinstant access to life-saving technology that only a hospital can provide. In Natural Hospital Birth, doula Cynthia Gabriel asserts that there is no good reason that women should not be able to have both.
This book is comprehensive and to the point , absolutely recommend it if you are planning a hospital bith in India!
3. The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding
Preparing for a breastfeeding journey is the most rewarding Pregnancy Experience. And you should begin right in Pregnancy! Why?
Because the first 2 -4 hours after birth hugely define your pregnancy journey!
I recommend this for complete breastfeeding preparation and for a smooth sailing Breastfeeding experience.
4. Nutrition in Pregnancy - A fantastic book by Rujuta Diwekar, the celebrity nutritionist and personal guide of Kareena Kapoor. It covers the basic understanding of Pregnancy and nutrition trimester wise. It has you covered from Preconception to Pregnancy and Postpartum as well as Breastfeeding.
I used this book personally for my nutrition needs when I was pregnant.
4. Ayurveda in Pregnancy - Ayurvedia Garbh Sanskar has been written specifically for the pregnant women as well as those who are taking care of one; it provides valuable knowledge about pre and post-natal care as prescribed by the ancient Ayurvedic practices and systems.

I am a big follower of Janet Lansbury her articles and her podcast, her audio books are a great affordable resource for you!
